Crack the code to a safe, confident Great Yoga Wall Practice

A 5-week transformative, online experience where you will ditch uncertainty and discover the safety principles you need to know to always feel safe and secure when you do a standing posture on the Great Yoga Wall. At your pace. We start January 8.

Does this sound like you?

  • You do the usual Downward Facing Dog, full inversion, and back bend that looks like the mermaid on the front of a ship on your yoga wall, and think, “Now what?”

  • You try a pose with your Great Yoga Wall and question, “Is THAT what it’s supposed to feel like? Where should I be feeling it?”

  • You’re walking a little funny and wondering what went wrong after trying to make up a way to use your yoga wall in Triangle Pose. After hobbling around for a day or two, you consider trying it again with the wall belt in a different place, only to second guess yourself and just do the pose in the center of the room without the help of that oh-so-pricey yoga wall.

  • You get into Warrior 2 with a Great Yoga Wall belt around your top front thigh, but something doesn’t quite feel right. The belt keeps slipping, you have to use more leg strength than you remember, and you’re not able to drop onto the belt or find that freedom in your hips and peaceful buzz in your brain that you know is possible with the Great Yoga Wall. Flustered, you step out of the belt and drop into Child’s Pose without the yoga wall, trying to figure out what went wrong.

  • You have XYZ condition and know the Great Yoga Wall can help, but when you go to practice, you question what you should do to modify for your unique needs.

  • You want to feel the deep relief and joy that the yoga wall offers and just aren’t sure how to DIY.

  • You want to gain more confidence in your practice with the Great Yoga Wall and maybe even share it with others.

  • You took a yoga wall training awhile back and feel like you forgot most of what you learned.

Stand Strong is unlike any yoga or rope wall training out there. Part on-line course, part live intensive, all with a community of peers who want the same thing: to Stand Strong with the Great Yoga Wall.

  • …learn where to put the wall belts on the Great Yoga Wall and your body for 64 variations of Level 1 standing poses, from Triangle to Half Moon and back?

  • …leave 2nd guessing behind as you discover the safety principles you need to know to always feel confident when you do a standing posture on the yoga wall?

  • …change your relationship with gravity so you can use it to create more length, strength, and mobility?

  • …explore how to modify the poses to suit YOUR body and individual needs (including dealing with injuries, illnesses, and conditions)?

  • …experience deep releases and relief that you can’t get with traditional classes or props?

  • …feel the joy of doing something you never thought you’d do—like relaxing into Half Moon Pose instead of struggling to balance?

According to the Ebbinghaus Forgetting Curve, you’ll forget more than 50% of a live Great Yoga Wall training within an hour of learning it, and about 75% of it within 6 days without reinforcement.

Let’s change that.

1. You need to learn what all of those hooks, belts, and other Great Yoga Wall thing-a-ma-jigs are, how to set them up, and how to use them safely.

2. You need to discover the safety principles that keep you (and if you’re a teacher, your students) safe and secure while using the Great Yoga Wall, including applied yoga philosophy.

3. You need to find out which standing poses to do with the Great Yoga Wall, their variations, how to modify so you’re getting the most benefit for YOUR body, and how to adjust when something feels off.

4. You need to uncover the role of the Great Yoga Wall in a posture practice and how to integrate it into sequences.

5. You need to make the most of your Great Yoga Wall investment and yourself by referring back to and practicing what you learn again and again, so you can get it in your DNA, deepen your experiences in the poses, do things you didn’t think you could do, and feel the amazing relief of using the Great Yoga Wall.

Here’s what people say after taking Great Yoga Wall training with me:

Thank you so much for the fabulous training. Tami’s expertise, attention to detail, and the welcoming space she created made the event great. My muscles were definitely stretched at the end of each day, but no residual pain, so I was able to participate fully each subsequent day. One of my yoga teachers definitely saw a difference in my body on Monday (how cool is that?) I’m looking forward to gaining strength as I actively use the wall most days each week…I’ve written up a sample sequence to start practicing, and then I plan to swap in additional asanas as I become stronger and more agile. I’m thrilled with the wall and the training. It was everything I’d hoped for, and I’m confident I will get much more out of my practice after having such excellent and detailed instruction.
— Candi
One thing you mentioned in class was to trust your body to hold you up when we were hanging and that really helped me let go and relax more, because I most certainly did not and thought I was going to fall on my head! It really resonated as well, as you know I’ve been dealing with injuries off and on for a while, and I really do need to trust my body more. Sometimes I over-protect myself and end up hurting myself even worse! So that was like a mini-breakthrough moment- thank you!
— Lauren
It was great to be able to participate in the [Great Yoga Wall] level one training again. It was a wonderful reminder of so many things I forgot! It will expand the ways in which I use the wall with my yoga therapy clients and it is already adding to my own physical therapy regime and recovery…the training was a great reorientation to using the great wall. I have been using some of the poses to help rehab from my broken leg. I am happy to share that I am now able to do child’s pose at the wall using the wall. Some of the other poses that were difficult for me during the training are now more accessible…thank you so much.
— Julia

Frequently Asked Questions

When does the course start and how long do we have access to the videos?

You’ll get access to the first set of posture videos on January 8, and new videos will be available on Mondays, January 15, 22, and 29. You’ll need to complete periodic basic knowledge checks as you move through the course. For this inaugural run, I’m including an extra week at the end to integrate what you’ve learned. The videos will be available for review through the end of the course on February 11.

When are the live calls? Will they be recorded?

Our live sessions will be at 8 a.m. Pacific/11 a.m. Eastern on the following Saturdays:

  • January 13

  • January 20

  • January 27

  • February 10

Will you be covering any inversions, backbends, or other types of poses?

I designed Stand Strong to help you learn ALLLLL 64 Level 1 standing poses instead of just the few we can squeeze into a live weekend intensive. If we did all the other kinds of poses, the course would be at least twice as long and take even longer to create. I didn’t want you to have to wait through video production any longer so Stand Strong includes just standing postures. However, Extended Standing Forward Bend is both a standing pose and an inversion, and you’ll get to play with 8 different variations of it in Stand Strong.

Do I need my own Great Yoga Wall? What kind of Great Yoga Wall configuration and accessories do I need?

You will need access to a Great Yoga Wall and 1 or 2 wall belts to practice most of the postures in the videos. You'll be able to do most of the postures if you have 3-5 plates in a column and 2 columns across, 2-4 yoga wall belts, and a pelvic swing.

Since Stand Strong includes all 64 standing pose variations, you also will get to discover configurations that use more wall belts, a wall bar, and a rope wall hook. If you don’t have these additional accessories, you can still complete the course or you can order them from the Great Yoga Wall company.

What other props will I need?

In addition to these Great Yoga Wall accessories, you’ll need 2-3 blocks and a regular yoga belt.

I’m a brand new beginner to yoga and/or the Great Yoga Wall. Will this course be too advanced for me?

All levels are welcome. If we’re doing something you feel is more advanced than what you want to do, you are welcome to modify your practice or work up to it.

I’m not a teacher. Is this course still for me?

Absolutely! In fact, the father of the Great Yoga Wall training, Bryan Legere, designed this original training intensives to focus on learning how to use the Great Yoga Wall safely in your own practice, regardless of whether you teach or not. Students and teachers alike will benefit tremendously from experiencing how the Great Yoga Wall can support you and help you open up your own body and mind.

I AM a teacher. Does this course certify me to teach the Great Yoga Wall to others?

No. You will receive a certificate of completion for completing all videos and the periodic foundational knowledge checks. Yoga Alliance continuing education credits also will be available. This certificate does NOT certify that you are capable of teaching the Great Yoga Wall because the course doesn’t include teaching practicum hours. Without them, we have no way of evaluating your capabilities of instructing others to use the Great Yoga Wall and could not, in good conscience, certify you to teach.

Bryan felt very strongly about the importance of taking time to integrate the Great Yoga Wall into your own practice before you teach it to others. This course offers the foundational knowledge of safety, alignment, and adjustments required to practice standing poses with the Great Yoga Wall, not teach them.

When will you run Stand Strong again? Will you be holding another 3-day live training intensive?

I’m honestly not sure when we’ll run Stand Strong again. When we do, the price will go up.

We don’t have the dates for the next hybrid 3-day training yet. Most likely it will be in spring 2024.

Join my community to be the first to know when I announce the dates for the next Great Yoga Wall training opportunities, classes and workshops.

I’m finally understanding the area in the low belly that I need to lift from. I’m feeling less compression in my low back/waist area and more extension in my spine. It’s very nice and energizing.

I found a lot of inspiration as you demonstrated therapeutic uses of the wall equipment, i.e., use in individual sessions, creating wall and non wall sequences for classes.

Picture of Tami Robinson

I’m Tami Robinson, the founder of Wellness with Tami Inc., and I’ve been practicing yoga and meditation since I was a child. I credit the Great Yoga Wall for inspiring me to start teaching in 2006. After taking the Great Yoga Wall Level 1 and 2 trainings with the father of Great Yoga Wall training, Bryan Legere, I moved across the country to apprentice with and earn 200 and 500-hour teacher training certificates from him.

Through Bryan I found my teacher, Jehangir Palkhivala, who offers a deeper exploration and embodied experience of yoga, its roots, and philosophy. For three years, I also studied with and assisted Gabriel Halpern, who Yoga Journal named one of the most influential teachers in the U.S. for his hands-on yoga therapy program, modeled after the Iyengar therapeutic classes in Pune, India.

I hold the highest certification from Yoga Alliance (E-RYT 500), as well as certification from the International Association of Yoga Therapists (C-IAYT). I also earned certification as an Associate Integral Coach from Integral Coaching Canada.

I’m committed to helping you experience the inspiration and joy of the Great Yoga Wall, thrive in your Great Yoga Wall practice, and shine your light brighter in the world as a result. To stand strong as a Great Yoga Wall Luminary.

Honoring the Lineage

Bryan Legere was born to develop Great Yoga Wall training. He began studying yoga in the mid-1970s, and became a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher at the Intermediate Junior 3 level. He started running yoga teacher training programs in the mid-1990s, and in 1994, became a member of the National Iyengar Certification Committee. He participated in and ran Iyengar certification tests throughout the U.S.

Bryan’s immersion in the Iyengar tradition led him to a rich and rewarding relationship with the Palkhivala brothers, first Aadil and then Jehangir. Through his studies with Jehangir Palkhivala, Bryan came to deepen his practice and embodiment of the teachings of the ancient texts, the Mother of Pondicherry, and Sri Aurobindo.

Bryan studied in India several times with the Iyengar and Palkhivala families, and lived his yoga through his dedicated practice and teaching.

As co-owner of the Great Yoga Wall company, he recognized the need to establish a training program that emphasized the importance of taking time to integrate the Great Yoga Wall into your own practice before you offer it to others. He designed the training to focus on learning how to use the Great Yoga Wall safely in your own practice, regardless of whether you teach or not.

Upon his passing in 2019, the Great Yoga Wall company asked me to carry on his legacy of high-quality training.

From taking Great Yoga Wall training multiple times and spending more than a thousand hours in classes and teacher training with Bryan, to assisting him in the intensives, to modeling for the manual, to integrating yoga wall work into my own practice, to using it with my therapeutic clients and running multiple sold out yoga wall workshops…I’m honored to share what I’ve learned.

it’s so amazing to see and feel the benefits of ‘back bending’ using the right props. especially for me that i have chronic low back pain. after the practice on Saturday, i had no ‘residual’ back pain at all.. and i kept thinking the entire weekend how i could maintain that painless state…so right now i’m thinking what it takes to install a wall in my apartment! it was perfect!

Inspired practice. Sharpened my eye for detail, such as which side the buckle should face. Refreshed my memory of old ways to practice and stimulated play and exploration for new ways to use the yoga wall.
